Tips and Tricks
Keep your showers short
1. Make sure your shower rose is a modern appliance that has a high water saving rating.
2. If you need to shower with warm water, start the hot water fully at 100% and then reduce it to a comfortable setting when it gets warm. You can collect the cold water first or use it to wet and wash your hair.
3. More soap means more water - so use a sponge, use liquid soap, and use a minimal amount to wash your entire body.
4. Turn the radio or stereo on, give yourself one song to finish your shower.
5. Every minute you reduce save 20 litres of water!
Keep the children’s shower or bath short
1. We’ve moved our children from baths in the long bath tub to the more economical shower bath. These are the showers that have a small tub for a base. We don’t fill the tub up anymore but allow the kids to sit under the shower whilst it fills up. This helps reduce the water and keep them happy.
Reduce the amount of water down the pot
1. Always flush with only the half flush, and hold it down for only until the water turns clear.
2. Every flush this way saves at 3-5 litres of water
Reduce kitchen time
1. Thermomix helps you reduce preparation and cooking time by combining different processing and cooking equipment into the one. Where you would use several different pieces of equipment to slice and dice, then combine, Thermomix does it all for you, weighing ingredients, stirring them, and then cooking them based on whatever timing and temperature you set!
2. EasyCook is a dry heat convection oven where you cook your food on racks. It fan forces the heat around the food and cooks food faster (saving time and electricity) than regular appliances. Cleaning it is so easy!
3. Frying? Offload the food, and whilst the pan is still hot, dowse the pan with a little bit of water to ‘de-glaze’ the pan of its oil and food bits. So easy. Clean it out when you’re done with dinner.
4. Use a pot or bowl for sticky (and eventually crusty) food preparation? Soak it immediately and you’ll find washing up way easier when you’re ready to clean up.
Use more environmentally friendly cleaning products
1. This carpet roller is one of my best buys for the home. It works using rollers that move when you push the roller along. Dust and crumbs are collected within. It is so easy and light the kids can use it - and they do!
